2018: Challenge and change

With five months left in my roaring twenties, and only a few days left in 2017 (thank GOD), I've started to reflect on where I am in life, where I want to be and how I want to get there.

It sounds incredibly cliche and tacky to put together a list of resolutions, but it's important to take an honest inventory on your dreams and aspirations - otherwise, you'll continue to put it off for when "you have time," when "you have money," or when "life isn't so hectic."
Spoiler alert: Life will always be hectic. Take the wheel and steer.
So anyway, here I am, and here are my goals for the brand new year ahead:
Find a local church and attend on a regular basis
For the longest time, I have felt this void in my heart, and have been unsure as to how to fill it. My marriage has been incredible, my relationship with my friends and family have been great, and I feel very fulfilled professionally.
I wasn't sure where else to look, so I finally looked...up. And realized that it has been YEARS since I've been active in a church. And I miss it more than I realized. So this year, I'm going to find a local congregation that fits with my beliefs and become a regular attendee. Not only to re-develop my trust and relationship with God, but to strengthen my trust and relationship with myself.
Become move involved in the community
This one is a little broad, but now that we have settled down in our new home, I think it's time I start to establish myself and become an ambassador in our community. I want to start volunteering at our local animal shelter, as well as for local political campaigns. I've been so motivated by The Dodo, Pod Save America and Run for Something to take my frustrations and inspirations and use them to create movement in the world.
Continue to pray and try for a family
In case you remember the fear of God being instilled into you during 8th grade health class, fear not: it takes a LOT of coordination and planning (and let's be honest: a lot of luck) to get pregnant. It also requires a ridiculous amount of patience, grace and forgiveness...especially with yourself. So, I'm going to continue in my Year of Patience and keep praying that our good news comes soon. And more importantly, I'll try harder not to beat myself up if we hit a few road blocks along the way. After all, even if it's just Charlie Brown and me (and two adorable puppies) in this journey, that's far more than I could have ever asked for.
Achieve 2018 splat points at OrangeTheory
It comes as no surprise that I have become add-ic-ted to OrangeTheory, and so for the first time in a while, my fitness goal steers a bit away from the marathon world and focuses on my day-to-day work in the gym. In celebration of 2018, I'm going to try to earn 2018 splat points at the ol' OTF. That works out to be 39 splat points a week, or 9-12 points per workout (based on 3-4 workouts a week). Totally achievable, and reinforces that a healthy body requires healthy doses of continuous work, all year round.
So that's that! Goals to inspire and strengthen me both physically, emotionally and spiritually. I am looking forward to wrapping up 2017, and hitting the ground running in 2018. Good luck on your 2018 resolutions, and cheers to a new year, friends!
